Low-intensity shockwave therapy in the treatment of urinary incontinence and female sexual dysfunction

Abstract

Pelvic floor dysfunctions are a major cause of impaired quality of life in women, particularly when associated with urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) has emerged as a therapeutic alternative capable of stimulating angiogenesis, tissue regeneration and functional recovery. This study evaluated 47 patients who underwent a standardized treatment protocol, observing significant improvement in urinary symptoms and sexual function, as well as a high rate of adherence and clinical safety.
